I was not expecting this Carhartt convertible backpack tote to be as large as it is. This bag would be a great size as an overnight bag or even a weekend bag. It may be a bit too big for use as an everyday laptop bag unless you need to carry many extra items or need a grocery bag for that trip to the store after work.The main compartment of this bag is large and deep, and has a large padded laptop pocket that closes with a Velcro strap. There is also another smaller padded pocket inside for smaller items that closes with a zipper. There are also four sleeves to hold pens and two sleeves for larger markers. The whole main compartment can then be zipped closed for added protection against weather or spillage.The front of the bag features a large pocket suitable for books or other flat items. On top of that, there is another smaller zippered phone pocket that also contains a pull-out plastic key clasp where keys can be securely attached and tucked away inside the pocket.The back of the bag features another large pocket that has a zipper on the bottom. With the zipper closed, this is a pocket capable of carrying books or flat items. When the zipper is open, this pocket will become a sleeve to slip over luggage handles for easier traveling.Both sides of the bag feature two pockets that can carry drink bottles. These pockets are made of stretchable material to accommodate bottles of various thickness.This bag uses thicker water-repellant material that is durable so I would expect it to last for many years. The stitching looks to be very generous and strong, and the 1.5-inch-wide straps are sturdy.Due to its size, I will end up using this bag as a tote more than a backpack. If the size of this bag fits within your needs, then I believe this is an excellent choice that should serve well for many years.
